The increasing cost of incarceration is a reality that governments cannot ignore.           Recently, there has been a huge push for Green Corrections. Additionally, there has     been significant interest in how governments finance their correctional systems. While some governments have moved toward privatizing their facilities, others have passed   the cost of incarceration to the inmates that they serve.

Approximately half of all states allow their correctional systems to charge offenders for housing and various service or amenity fees. Do you support this concept? In                discussing your support/disapproval of fee based incarcerations, describe the three fee types currently in use. Is there a fee type you tend to agree with or disapprove of more than the others? Discuss the pros/cons of fee based systems, concentrating most on    the aspects you find most advantageous/harmful to society.
