Your assignment is to conduct a critical case study of an action taken by an international organization. 

You will first have to choose an international organization that interests you.  As you will learn in this course, there are many IOs to choose from.  I strongly encourage you to spend some time looking for one that genuinely interests you.  You can select any international organization.  It doesn't matter whether it is an inter-governmental organization, a non-governmental organization, a hybrid, etc. 

You will then need to spend some time reviewing what this organization does.  All IOs have stated missions and they routinely take actions to help achieve those missions.  For instance, Doctors without Borders is an international organization whose mission is to deliver medical aid where it is needed most in an independent, neutral, and impartial way.  One specific way that they are trying to accomplish this broad mission is to prevent the spread of Malaria in the midst of a humanitarian crisis in northeastern Nigeria. 

For this example a student could choose Doctors without Borders as their organization and their attempt to prevent the spread of Malaria in northeastern Nigeria as the specific case. 

The overall project is to be focused on critically evaluating the case.  Some key elements would have to be included:

Basic information and background on the international organization

This needs to be focused and brief.  Your assignment is not to examine an organization.  It is to examine the actions of an organization in a specific context.

This should focus only on the context needed to make your overall paper comprehensible. 

You should focus on providing background about the organization as it relates to the specific case you are examining. 

Information about the circumstances of the case and the context within which it exists.

1.Does it involve a specific country, disease, conflict, etc? 

2.You should provide some basic background on what elements are involved. 

3.What specific actions has the IO taken in this context?

4.How is it going?

5.What challenges face the IO?

6.Could it be doing things better?

7.What are the overall prospects?

8.For this topic proposal I simply want a paragraph that tells me:

What international organization you chose.

What specific case of their involvement you will examine.
