Instructions
The book report should be 1000 to 1500 words in length (at 250 words a
page, that’s 4 to 6 type-written pages), and should provide answers to the following questions:
(1) What kind of information was the author drawing on in the article or chapter you looked at?
(e.g. archaeological material in a particular location, texts written in a particular language and
period, etc.); (2) What issues did the author (or authors) seek to explore? (3) What, in general,
were the findings and conclusions of the author (or authors)? (4) What further research or
analysis on this topic would you like to see – in other words, what is missing from this author’s
treatment, or what kinds of further questions do you have about this topic? How would you go
about answering these questions?
