You have been engaged by a small clothing business to provide guidance on global expansion plans.

The business, named ShellCoop Clothing, is a retailer specialised in clothing for people interested in outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, fishing and nature walks.

They have been very successful in Australia and the company wants to expand internationally. They have high expectations and are ready to scale up their production. Meeting new demands in a new market is not a problem.

 

What they need help with is where to go (Chosen country: JAPAN) and what factors in the general environment they need to consider. You have been tasked with identifying an appropriate market to enter and the forces that shape that market. You should identify how these forces could impact ShellCoop's entry in to your chosen market.

In your answer, you should thoroughly research the market (you have the resources of Macquarie University Library Databases - links are included below) and other forces using a structured framework such as PESTEL (Political, Economic, Socio-cultural/Social, Technological, Environmental, Legal.

 

Importantly, you must discuss WHY the factors you identify are important for ShellCoop and what the implications are for the firm.
